During summer 2014, two friends and I drove a 1.1-liter Suzuki from England to Mongolia. The black-and-white map, which I whipped up in a of couple hours for use in our promotional materials, shows our proposed (but not actual) route across Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The color version shows our actual route. I chose to use a conic projection to emphasize the distance of our voyage, which is over one-third the circumference of the planet.
